I made the one on the right for my own daily use. Hand built paper clay. Texture is from mixing cooked rice with the paper clay before making the pinched shape. Stained with black and red iron oxides. The inside is green celadon glaze. Fired to Cone 10 reduction.

Love the texture the rice created! Does it have to be cooked rice that's used, or can uncooked rice produce the same results? Also, would it matter the type of rice? White, brown, jasmine, etc...

Hi Shawna,
I use cooked brown grain rice. The important thing is to cook the rice so that the exterior of the grain is broken to allow the steam to escape.
